This “NPC” TikTok Live Trend Is Making People Thousands

NPC stands for a non-playable character in a video game. They are the pedestrians we run over, the side quest givers, the ones who stare blankly at you while repeating the same phrase over and over.

And these characters have somehow made their way into a new trend that allegedly makes one creator, PinkyDoll, $4,000–$7000 a day.

PinkyDoll is the original creator behind the trend and has quickly become a meme after acting as an “NPC” on TikTok Live. She would sway from left to right while staring aimlessly at the camera and reacting to gifts sent by viewers.

These gifts range from roses to diamonds and each one translates to money at the end of the stream.

Initially when I heard and saw PinkyDoll acting as an “NPC” I experienced secondhand embarrassment. But after you consider the method behind obtaining the gifts, it's genius.

Creators acting as an NPC will only react to gifts sent by viewers. Other than that they stare at the screen and repeat a few phrases. So to invoke some kind of reaction, viewers…
