This morning I grudgingly got out of bed to step on the scale in my bathroom. I’m not ashamed to say I hate the stupid thing. It sits there waiting to judge all my midnight snacking, heavy plate portions, and takeout choices.

But something was different today. I put my bare feet on the cold metal, nervously watching the numbers climb up. I expected them to go above 180, but the numbers surprisingly slowed at 170.

171…172…173…174?…175?!…176!

I weighed 5 pounds less than I did 2 days ago and this is all without exercise. Yes, I heard those sighs of relief. I know a lot of people don’t like exercising a ton, me included. It can be exhausting, ironically. Well, you can lose weight without exercising, and here’s how I did it.

1 Meal A Day, Keeps The Fat Rolls Away

Before you click off the article telling yourself “I can’t eat only one meal in a day!” hear me out. It is easier than you think and you’re only limiting yourself to what you believe is possible. Time to step out of that comfortable box of “I can’t do it” because you can.

I told myself the same thing and now I am 5 pounds lighter. And this is all from fasting.

Fasting is when you go a certain length of time without eating. Usually, when someone hears about fasting, they think of someone not eating all day. But really you can go as little as 10 hours without eating, maybe even less if you feel this is too challenging.

The day for me starts at 7 am and I will drink only fluids until 6 or 7 pm. I know this sounds absolutely crazy, but I am able to keep myself so busy that I hardly think about eating.

When 6 pm rolls around, I log off from all my work and then indulge in a meal. Yesterday, I had teriyaki chicken stir fry with rice and 3 cookies. All guilt-free because I deserved it.

If you are going to fast, then I recommend keeping the meals light but hearty. Since you aren’t eating for the majority of the day, it is vital to eat a meal with all the nutrients. So close out of Doordash and Ubereats, unless you are ordering a healthy meal.

Instead, before you even begin to fast, go buy a bunch of veggies and meats to have ingredients ready when you want to cook. This helps keep that temptation to order away.

Up For The Challenge?

For those of you looking to lose weight that are up for a challenge, try not to eat up until dinner for at least one day!

Here are some helpful tips for all of you looking to start:

  • Drink lots of fluids (water, a smoothie, juices packed with vitamins)
  • Get in a morning stretch to relax the mind
  • Distract yourself from food
  • Take vitamins or vitamin packs in the morning
  • Don’t overexert yourself (NO HEAVY WORKOUTS-unless you are eating after or have eaten before the activity)
  • Consult your physician about fasting
  • If you want more results, you can throw in a 5–10 minute abs workout before eating.

Good luck to everyone and be safe!
